天気の良い日が続き、過ごしやすい正月のようです。
ＴＶ観戦も疲れますが、ＰＣに向かう気力も少し薄れました。少しずつ元の状態に戻しつつ、頑張っていきましょう。
さて、今年最初のInfoは、Windows 8についてです。
Windows 8と書きましたが、実際には仮の名前です。次のOSの目玉は、Metro StyleとHyper-Vの搭載みたいです。
Metro Styleが最大の特徴のようで、タブレット端末を意識している仕様です。これは、現状のデスクトップに代わるもので、起動するとStart画面はタイル状のボタンが並ぶデザインとなるようです。
ユーザはこのボタンにタッチしてアプリケーションを起動させます。もちろん、マウスでも操作できるようです。
DeskTopボタンをクリック、またはタッチすると従来と同じデザインのデスクトップ画面に切り替わります。
Hyper-Vは仮想ソフトのことで、Windows 7で搭載されたVirtual PCに代わるものです。今までは仮想マシンを使うとオーバーヘッドが大きすぎて動きが遅くなる場面が多かったようですが、それを解消された仕様になっているそうです。
１つのマシンで複数のOSを利用するには、よい環境を提供してくれそうですね。
さて、発売日なのですが、現時点では未定なり・・。
2011年の9月にWindows 8のDeveloper Previewが公開されたので、早ければ今年の8月頃にはRTM版が登場して、2012年内には企業向けのボリュームライセンスの提供やパッケージ版の市販が始まるかも知れません。
ただ、Windows 8はタブレット対応の機能を内包しているので、そこにトラブルが生じると今年中の販売は無理かもしれないようです。
いろいろとOSが新しくなるのは良いことなんでしょうけど、ユーザへのコストパフォーマンスも考慮していただきたいものです。
現在では、ハードウェアが先行し、その後にソフトウェアが追従していくような形なので、開発者の方々も苦労されているのでは・・。と考えます。
Windows 8の発売と同時にWindows Storeをオープンするようで、Apple社のApp Store、Google社のAndroid Marketを意識して、ネット上での販売戦略が過熱しそうです。
もちろん、競争してもらえれば良い製品が出回り、コスト的にもユーザに優しくなるものでしょうが、ユーザ側もしっかりと選別する意識を養わないといけないでしょう。ね。
